Texas Senate send Gun Bills to Governor’s Desk

On Monday, May 6th, two pro-gun bills were finally passed in the Texas Legislature, and headed to Governor Perry.

SB 864 by Senator Donna Campbell (R-New Braunfels), will reduce the number of hours for a concealed handgun license to “not less than four or more than six” and will not include time on the shooting range or the range proficiency exam.

SB 299 by Senator Craig Estes (R-Wichita Falls), adds a more clear meaning in Texas law for “intentional failure to conceal” by a licensee.

As more Pro-Gun legislation news happens, we will post it here…

URGENT MESSAGE to MEMBERS – CALL YOUR SENATOR NOW !

URGENT – Call Your Senators Now!

Today, starting at 4 p.m., the U.S. Senate will be voting on several measures that would affect the firearms and ammunition industry. Please call your senators NOW and tell them to vote with the National Shooting Sports Foundation’s position on today’s amendments. Our positions are:

OPPOSE Manchin-Toomey amendment #715; DEFEATED DEFEATED DEFEATED
The Manchin-Toomey amendment would expand background checks, unfairly prioritize background checks at gun shows over checks at storefront retailers and expose retailers to product liability and record-keeping issues when processing private party transfers.

SUPPORT Grassley_Cruz substitute amendment;
The Grassley amendment offers real solutions by Fixing NICS and improving current law, without an expansion of background checks that would punish retailers and infringe on the Second Amendment.

SUPPORT Cornyn amendment #719
The Cornyn amendment would guarantee the rights of gun owners to carry concealed firearms across state lines and within other states that also have conceal-carry laws.

OPPOSE Feinstein amendment #711
The Feinstein amendment would bring back an expanded ban on so-called “assault weapons.” History shows that banning firearms and imposing arbitrary limits on the size of magazines will not reduce crime.

SUPPORT Burr amendment #720
The Burr amendment would require a judicial authority to determine that an individual poses a danger to themselves or others before VA may send their names to be listed in the FBI’s NICS as a prohibited person.

OPPOSE Lautenberg-Blumenthal amendment #714
The Lautenberg-Blumenthal amendment would impose an arbritrary 10 round limit on ammunition magazine capacity. The 1994 Assault Weapons Ban banned magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds and did nothing to curb gun violence.

SUPPORT Barrasso amendment #717
The Barrasso amendment would help protect the privacy of law-abiding gun owners by withholding federal funds from any state or local government that releases private gun ownership data, outside of criminal investigations.

Now is the time to call your U.S. senators at 202-224-3121 and tell them to support your Second Amendment rights and jobs in your state!

Pets on the Range

We have had some comments and complaints from members regarding other members bringing their PETS to the Range.

After discussing the issue with Club officers, we think it is best that NO PETS be brought to the Range. Their safety and the safety of the members is the main reason for leaving PETS at home.

Please leave your PETS at home.

NRA BOYCOTT KILLS OUTDOORS SHOW THAT BANNED ASSAULT WEAPONS

A massive boycott sparked by the NRA and other gun-rights groups outraged that the nation’s largest outdoors show banned the exhibition of assault weapons has caused the show’s organizers to abruptly cancel the week-long event in Harrisburg, Pa.

The successful boycott was the biggest demonstration of support by the outdoors industry yet against gun control efforts being pushed in Washington and in several states.

“Reed Exhibitions has decided to postpone, for now, the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show given the controversy surrounding its decision to limit the sale or display of modern sporting rifles (also called ARs) at the event. The show was scheduled to take place February 2-10 in Harrisburg, Pa.,” the organizer said in a statement Thursday.

The Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show is the biggest in the nation and features several outdoors groups, hundreds of exhibitors and the most popular TV hunting show stars. It draws thousands from the Washington-Baltimore area. As the assault rifle ban became known, exhibitors, sponsors and the TV stars withdrew by the dozens.

The NRA is a huge sponsor of the show and pulled out Tuesday after Reed moved to ban assault rifles like Bushmasters and AR-15s at the show. A Bushmaster was ALLEGEDLY used in the Newtown, Conn., shootings and Reed said it was bowing to concerns about the gun in banning it from the show.

In an official statement, organizer Reed Exhibitions said that the whole show, which includes fishing and camping exhibits, “could not be held because the atmosphere of this year’s show would not be conducive to an event that is designed to provide family enjoyment. It is unfortunate that in the current emotionally charged atmosphere this celebratory event has become overshadowed by a decision that directly affected a small percentage of more than 1,000 exhibits showcasing products and services for those interested in hunting and fishing.”

The SUCCESSFUL boycott by the NRA and 170 other exhibitors, however, is what killed the show said one exhibitor. “We need to stand firm against those siding with the anti-gun crowd,” said one exhibitor.

The National Wild Turkey Federation, a group supported by turkey hunters, said they were boycotting to raise awareness of the threat against the Second Amendment. “We feel strongly about the importance of the Second Amendment in pursuit of our mission of preserving our hunting heritage,” said Skip Motts, president of the NWTF Pennsylvania State Chapter.

Someone recently posted a link on Facebook, to this site:
GUN CONTROL – JUST FACTS

I spent an hour reading and going through the additional charts, links, and data. I highly recommend everyone take a look at this link and try to be prepared the next time some stupid, non-thinking Liberal starts to spew unconfirmed nonsense on how horrible GUNS are.
